I doubt whether Percy Shaw who invented CATS EYES FOR ROAD SAFETY ever thought he would be an INSPIRATION to an ECO WARRIOR and his friends. Percy Shaw proved that ORDINARY PEOPLE can make a difference – for him it was drivers – for me – it is gorillas.
A couple of months ago we rescued A TATTY DIVING SUIT, complete with snorkel and face mask, from a skip. We always believed it would have some ECO BENEFIT at some point. Now, this week, we read about the world’s FIRST FEATHERLESS PENGUIN.
RALPH is one of many penguins at Marwell Wildlife but the only one TO LOSE ALL HIS FEATHERS IN ONE DAY. This follows on from the plight of Kadogo from the Congo (see earlier blogs) the world’s first balding gorilla. We are now wondering if there is an ECO LINK between BALDNESS AND FEATHERLOSS that may affect both THE CONGO and MARWELL … but that’s another blog.
Fearing RALPH MAY GET SUNBURNT inspiring park keepers made him a RECYCLED SWIMSUIT out of the LEG OF A RUBBER DIVING SUIT. This got us thinking. We are now worried that KADOGO, who is still STRIDING ABOUT IN THE CONGO UNDER THE BLAZING SUN, may get a SUNBURNT HEAD. It is doubtful that a gorilla would think of using sun cream on his bald bits. Taking inspiration from the park keepers at Marwell, Angus, Ram and I have now invented a PROTECTIVE HEAD SHIELD FOR A GORILLA – COMPLETE WITH SNORKEL in case of oxygen shortage.
Apart from Angus’s fear that his dog, Henry VIII may now LOSE HIS FUR we are concerned about whether a parcel labelled KADOGO, THE CONGO will reach the gorilla in question. Our fear is that BALDING POSTMEN in The Congo may, on investigating the package, SEIZE THE MARKETING OPPORTUNITY and decide to deliver letters wearing the PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR.
So, to guard against the monstrosity of IDEA THEFT, or intellectual property to give it its real name (Angus says this is the first intellectual thing he’s ever done) we have decided to do what Percy Shaw did. We will be PATENTING THE IDEA … so that we will GO DOWN IN HISTORY as the official inventors of SCUBARILLAS – protective head gear for balding gorillas.
