The idea behind the book

I used to think it would be so much fun if we could take our pets to school with us – just for one day. This got me thinking. Some pets might be just too big – can you imagine if you had an elephant in your back yard – or a giraffe curled up on your bed ... and what if you teacher wanted to bring a dinosaur to school! (In America they changed the title to Mr Smith’s Surprising Pet, I don’t know why but I didn’t mind).
